its hard to really do justice to how badly this has people shook. its not just that coinbase was considered an absolute fucking titan with the brightest possible future in silicon valley and now they are literally rescinding job offers.
its that a company this well regarded actually considered doing something this unprofessional and was just like 'yeah i guess this is an appropriate thing to do'.
it basically validates the general concern that the entire crypto/web3 ecosystem is a hilariously amateurish cash grab and that the absolute biggest names in crypto really never took it seriously and that everyone was just making hay while the sun shined, and the sun just fucking went down.

Sonatine months ago forwarded the observation that tech layoffs are in the offing. It wasn’t a forecast so much as a common sense reminder lime bring an umbrella of it’s going to rain.

one of the hottest takes ive seen in a minute calls out the assumption that all these freshly poor crypto traders will somehow renounce capitalism and embrace socialism/leftist ideologies after their literal millions get rugged for good.
theres seriously very little reason to assume they wont flock to fascism en masse, choosing to embrace the right wings current victim pathos. eg "the leftists burned down my ponzi to fund the great replacement and now i cant retire at age 30".
