official euphoria season 3 maybe / maybe not thread

so i think we need to consider the very real possibility that we just dont get a season 3 of euphoria.

few reasons;

- we are already had a major character bail under a cloud of weirdness (kat)

- the absolute best case scenario for euphoria to return is early 2024 and in the meantime, actors are aging fast.



yeah shes not going to cut it if this show is going to pick up at a point where theres any sense of continuity with the timeline.

its really not clear to me how you port this to feature like, college seniors...?

like is season 3 going to be nothing but an 8 hour redux of Requiem for a Dream?

- sam levinson's new project is basically a cesspool of the justifiably cancellable behavior / themes both in front of and behind the camera. like what im reading is extremely fucking bad.

seriously levinson might get shown the door long before euphoria 3 becomes a storyboard.

I enjoyed season 2 but unlike season 1 I haven't found myself dying for another season. I have no interest in really seeing them go to college. Most of the interesting story lines are done for me. And I'm not a fan of what other series do like Skins or Degrassi where they just move down to following the young class. I completely agree that for something like this you need to release 3 seasons over 3 subsequent years which at this rate it will be 3 seasons over 5-6 years.

And having been a fan of my so called life growing up I'm just glad this one got to season 2 and I honestly believe it gave me closure for what I was waiting for for nearly 30 years.

babs drops the hammer on a lot of rumors about her exit from the show and tbh its hard to tell if shes doing a PR tour to deal with the stigma/fallout from being labeled problematic or if she really just hard passed on a third season in a principle role on an HBO cultural juggernaut so she could pivot to projects like a remake of the 'faces of death' fake snuff deathsploitation film from the 80s.

The actor, who plays Fezco (a.k.a. Fez) on the hit HBO drama, is itching to get back on set and, more importantly, get some answers.

Well, it can't get much worse.

If you'll recall, the second season ended with Fez being hauled away by the cops after taking the fall for Ashtray (Javon Walton) stabbing Custer (Tyler Chase) in the neck. Fez was also seen leaving behind a note for Lexi (Maude Apatow) as he met his fate, so there's plenty to unpack when the gang gets back together.

Despite his things looking bleak for Fez, it turns out that Angus was close to not even appearing in season three at all—because his character was supposed to die.

so honestly this whole situation is fucccccked up. like hbo seriously just kept almost every actor attached to the project on the fucking shelf for 2 years at the absolute hottest point in their careers and now theres open speculation that even if levinson can get it together enough to make the show happen, without the recently deceased producer to keep him in line, its going to be a fucking catastrophe. see: the idol.

they also quote a fairly clued in podcaster who posited that we may end up with either a movie or a 3-4 episode miniseason.

and im sorry but again; honestly how/why? this was a show about schized out teenage sex and drug adventures. what exactly are they pitching with the 5 year time jump?

oddly enough i do feel like if (huge if here btw) zendaya agrees to the new script, its not going to be bad.
