  • so Neil Gaiman is 'cancelled' and a lot of his projects are getting pruned

the accusations are range from real slimey to yawnsville.

like literally one of the accusers said gaiman jumped on her and started kissing her so she got grossed out and left. thats literally an accusation.

the other one was literally some chick who basically ended up dating him and didnt break things off because hes fucking famous and now shes complaining about how shes a victim of the power imbalance. yes seriously.

another chick basically got to live on one of his properties with her kids in exchange for the occasional blowjob. and i get why thats a bad look but i know how expensive properties are in woodstock so im kinda like hey, does she realllllly think shes giving $1000 a pop blowjobs?

anyway whether or not you believe this constitutes a very public lynching, thats basically whats happening, and a bunch of really high profile projects are now bodied.

which begs the question..... why arent we hearing more about the next season of sandman?

So far none of this sounds like anything worth reporting. I might look more into this and change my mind along the way.

At a glance he has apparently fucked groupies in their early 20s since the 90s. I fail to see a problem with this.

The house related thingie comes off as trying to get payed thrice for services rendered and a really weird take on prostitution. Most whores have a tragic backstory and/or financial hardships that led them to the life.

Dunno, I've always been in the "death of an author" camp, because I don't really do selective obliviousness. I have no intention of dodging any Weinstein/Polanski/Spacey/Whoever properties and I'm fine moonwalking in my Cosby sweater. In that crowd Gaiman comes off as a saint.

Also fairly sure that our current demands for power balance just leads to a classist society.

basically we live in a society where sexual morals are binary and if you make someone uncomfortable, thats enough to justify your public exile and tarring/feathering. also all this got trotted out on some new zealand podcast, then for no apparent reason rolling stone published a piece on it and suddenly disney isnt interested in working with him etc etc it just gets worse from there. infuriating.

Yea I started looking into this from an analysis of that podcast...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xmeEXDFM8I

...fairly quickly we get to the part that the podcast itself is more problematic to begin with. It's sounds like a shesaid with random basic rhetoric/argumentative tricks.

So far with Scarlet (nanny) story I've picked up that:

    -Gaiman is bad at kink
    -Sticked his dick to crazy
-None of the verifiable receipts support her claims

I kinda got bored looking into this stuff.

Here's the random bits I picked up. Apparently Gaiman is autist. The podcast was UK based I think. People involved with it include Boris Johnson's sister. Current UK laws are fairly retarded in relation to BDSM. Something like light spanking is where the line is with legal/illegal regardless of consent.

People that care about this seem to come from the camp that likes to be outraged/offended, occupy a moral high ground of their own choosing and no one ever cares what's the logical conclusion of their batshit utopia that would play by their rules.

There's obv unhealthy power dynamics, but what gets lost is that existence of power inequality alone only matters closer to Princess Leia and Jabba type of relations than fucking your groupies. With stuff related to age gap we can just look at visual media and marketing to see what's the perceived value of women in their 20s. Even Amazon isn't touching that with their retarded casting codes, because that would be too suicidal.

For reference this is why Rings of Power looks like it does...
      • Each film or series with a creative team of three or more people in above-the-line roles (Directors, Writers, Producers) should ideally include a minimum 30% women and 30% members of an underrepresented racial/ethnic group. This aspirational goal will increase to 50% by 2024.
      • Casting actors whose identity (gender, gender identity, nationality, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability) aligns with the character they will be playing.
      • Aiming to include one character from each of the following categories in speaking roles, with minimum 50% of these to be women: LGBTQIA+, person with a disability, and three regionally underrepresented race/ethnic/cultural groups. A single character can fulfill one or more of these identities.
...this is stupid, but there's no mention of age (unless we include women over 30 to the disability category).

There's some random studies where looking at men and women in their 40s/50s/60s and their partner preference. Women tend to gravitate towards their own age and men's scale slides from mid 20s to late 20s. It's logical from an evolutionary standpoint with a combination of fertility and favorable genes. Basically men over 30 need to have something going on to be able to compete with men in their 20s and the most fertile group of women is the most desired/protected.

Netflix cares less and I'm guessing they're at a point where they need to keep showing profit/growth to exist. Amazon/Disney don't care as much and they have more to lose from bad PR. They also can fudge the profitability of their projects and accounting in general even more than what's to be expected. Things like Disney paying Disney so they can say Thor: Love & Thunder didn't bomb.

Also I'm guessing Netflix was too far in to the production to pull the plug, but they might be ok with s3, if s2 numbers look good enough.
