dune prophesy is starting to bang. the sex scenes are trash and weirdly out of place but also i kinda get it, how 10,000 years before the fall of house atreides, people were more base, less cerebral.

also interesting piece of news i suppose; squid game season 2 is shorter than 1, and season 3 will also likely be shorter and air sometimes in 2025. also all eps are getting released at once, which is quite the silver lining here.

im enjoying prophecy, a lot actually, but i could see hbo shitcanning this. they shitcanned the last season of westworld for fucks sake. they will shitcan anything.

and this show for all its charms is a little incomprehensible at face value. also hbo is spending 200m per season of house of dragons and that makes me wonder if they are going to be interested enough to carry this for another season after the final (!!!!) ep of the 6 show miniseries airs next week.

and the thing is i cant even really blame them if they dont. something they are doing this season which is making me fucking crazy is trotting out these incredibly important plot elements from the later books like facedancers and then doing absolutely nothing with them, and thats a really fucking dumb play. its basically making the show feel confused and disjointed.

and i get that they want to be like 'oooo hey check out this wild insane world this characters live in, omg i bet you cant wait to see how this all matters' and they are right, i cant wait, but we have 1 episode left and we are getting very fucking bogged down in a lot of weird side quests that seem to be going nowhere.

hopefully hbo realizes that it cant just do spicy lgbq romcoms that cost nothing and expect house of dragons to carry everything else. hod isnt going to last much longer and oh yeah its not actually very good.

so they really need to invest in prophecy, they needs to give it the time and resources to tell an actual tale and create a world that does justice to the source material. and so far they havent. and the writers know it imo, thats why they are trying to get us all hooked on these hints and tickles of how cool the world frank herbert created was instead of just telling us a cohesive, engrossing, disciplined story.

like im going to be livid if hbo fucks us all on this but im also very used to hbo fucking us, all said and done. and with the cost of carrying the channel, losing prophecy would pretty much deep six any reason i had to keep my subscription.

meanwhile silo got renewed for a 3rd AND 4th season.

5 of 7 eps down and im here to say squid games 2 is legit terrible.

they seriously just went and yellowstone'd us by giving us a sloppy half season and being like 'join us for the exciting conclusion in 2025'.

Yea I was fast forwarding a lot and/or just let it run in the background. The first 2 episodes felt pointless and i cant say I was surprised about anything. It wasn't as bad as the big Sauron reveal in Rings of Power, but it wasn't too far off. Mostly the last episode was just disappointing.

On a mildly related note the Beast Games started. I'm stuck in the second episode and so far it's as classy as one would expect. Fairly sure the random behind the scenes reveals and related law suites will be more interesting, but that's gonna take a few years. I was somewhat surprised that it aired at all. Guessing Amazon burned too much money and/or by some logic still think Mr. Beast isn't a toxic asset. It's weird that random yuotubers were willing to cut ties before Amazon.
