cixin liu has one flaw and its burying me in pages and pages of fairly mundane non-events and then springing something on me thats not only insanely jarring but also renders everything that happened before it irrelevant but also is not super well articulated so i know something huge just happened, and im pretty sure i get the gist of it, but im also unable to be sure exactly what it was based on the description alone, so i need to just keep reading and hope he fills in the blanks.

it might be a problem with translation of course. but it feels like it happens a lot.

also im halfway through the last book in 3 body and im warming to the possibility that liu is a genius.

so i guess this shouldnt be some big surprise at this point but apparently some hedge-fluent types are going over this funds books and no ones saying anything is fraudulent per se but there could be some creative mark-to-market type voodoo in the mix as well.

like apparently they have a big private stake in anthropic which is 'up huge' but who knows what that really means

funny little story; i finished 3 body problem final book tonight and literally for the final 200 of its 700+ pages my eyelid wouldnt stop twitching and i was like WHY DOES THIS BOOK HAVE A DEATH GRIP ON MY SOUL and so i went to the high master of such things, quinn, for his hot takes and apparently quinn himself described it as "The Most Horrifying Science Fiction Series of All" and real fucking talk i think our mans wasnt wrong.

i have literally purchased the fanfic unofficial 4th book in the series just because i hear liu thought it was well done.

so liu is a weird cat. his parents were sent to work in the fucking mines which, admittedly, would fuck anyone up. but hes like a hyper patriot these days at least in interviews... its possible that he's just playing a role because he doesnt want to end up getting his organs harvested but hes like, VERY into central government control and uses the whole 'but in america there are bloodbaths in schools and gas stations' line to justify it, but doesnt seem to have a lot to say about the constant knife attacks and bombings that take place in china. plus hes VERY in favor of the one-child policy. like overall he seems fairly obsessed with china staying under total control of the gov and considers a lot of our freedoms to be fairly degenerate.

which is odd because in the book, when the bads seize control and officially declare the end of human history, they describe our freedom as degenerate.

also, sophon, the robot, is VERY into japanese tradition and culture. and although it starts out cute with kimonos and tea ceremonies, when she flips into rampage mode, she does so with a katana.

also and this kinda pains me... on 3 different occasions, humanity gets fucked over and on all 3 occasions, its because of a woman being fucked up. first is the original signal to trisolaris, sent because a woman has trauma and fat fucking personality disorder, second is refusing to send the signals during the droplet raid because Cheng Xin just freezes up and chokes, and third is Cheng Xin refusing to let wade build his light speed drives because shes literally cranky after being woken up after hypersleep and just kinda catches the ick from wade being wade and that totally overrides everything Tam told her to do in his fairy tale.

i dont know, that just doesnt feel like coincidence. and on both of the situations with Cheng Xin, she ends up dooming our species because she very particularly refuses to listen to wade, the american. whom its later revealed, the trisolarins are terrified and in awe of.

i mean thats a pretty fucking wild theme to go with and its honestly kinda hard to reconcile those plot elements with his extremely nationalist personal sentiments. not that it matters with regards to his work, like at all. iiiiits just a little interesting.

I have spent a good deal of time watching people make some fairly horrific sports bets. IE they are just really terrible at sports.

when it comes to stocks I win some and lose some but if I am being honest I am sure there are others who know more than I do that would like at any trades I have made and come to the conclusion "He is just terrible at stocks".

I habe tried to find others who do consistently well with stonks and I have found some salvation in Orderflow.

Here is what I am in right now as a result.

UNH - as it turns out what he was seeing on the tape was Warren B layering in. Thinking I am going to let this run for a while but talk about good timing.

Comm & APH - Imagine my surprise when I had alerts going off due to a acquisition and divestiture and it was both stocks in my portfolio. The stranger thing wasn't that COMM doubled but APH was up 10% on the news. I don't have to tell you how rare that is.

PRM - I get the impression this is more than just good tape story for him. Thinks there is money to be made in forestry esp in Ca.

NET - not particularly volatile but the chart goes up and too the right.

PTLR - He was on this a year ago. Crowded obv. Think its just a momentum thing at this point as the crowd chases growth where it is.

SOFI - One of the newer holdings. Just another up and to the right stonk.

He does really well in options. Give me a few winners. Put me in $400 COIN 5 weeks out when it was $320 for $2 and it ran to $14 (as an example). Right now he has people in

DJT Dec $20 calls. Got them at $1.75 and now $2.20. He likes the tape on this Stonk in general. Little confused as to why its not moving considering the demand but as of Friday its starting to move up.

CRWV Jan $200 Calls. Deep OOTM at the moment for $100 Stonk, but oddly expensive at $3.75. I am guessing the big block sales one the lockup may have caused the round trip from 100 to 180 back to 100..... but tape shows buyers. Maybe once the sellers taper off the tape shows this making a round trip.
