In 2020, the “low effort, should be a slam dunk but probably won’t be, but when it hits, it hits,” equivalent has been my very occasional investment picks.

* Picks are 10% strategic/trend based and 90% blind luck and intuition. Slot machine.

Update:

Mid October, I decided to fuck with BYND.
After doing my due diligence I bought 10 shares with the intention of holding long-ish term. What could go wrong?

Beyond and Pepsi were on the precipice of announcing a joint venture where they would team up to design a line of plant based snack/beverage or meal/ beverage pairings.

Factors contributing to this decision:
-Pepsi understands the snack market - given its considerable holdings in including its Frito-Lay
-Plant based diets are all rage - with Beyond and Impossible popping up on nearly every national chain restaurant’s menu, the stigma of “bland” or “boring” has basically been quashed.

anywho...

Month 1 - up 31% - felt like winning a hand with 9♣️9♠️.
Month 3 - up 39% - now I’m crushing a pair of Ks with a set of Js.
Last Week - my Aces get crushed, even though villain didn’t show his cards. Things start to spiral. Start the week down 15%. The joint venture becomes front page news for Barron’s, Bloomberg, etc. The public’s reception of the partnership has been mixed. Then the GME/WSB drama took off. It occurred to me that BYND could potentially become more volatile if confused with Bed, Bath & Beyond by RobinTards.

In a moment of certain uncertainty, I hit the sell button Friday afternoon.

Next move - tomorrow I am rolling the profit into 75% TransUnion & the rest, in Shopify.

So, last minute change in plans...in honor of Uncle Sheldon kicking off, we rolled 50% into LVS and 50% into SHOP.

Shopify is a steady gainer but doesn’t turn me on too much.

Sands, on the other hand, has been shown just enough volatility to make and keep my panties wet for the time being.
