    Saburra: Blood on Rome

    ya know... not without its charms, thats all im saying. acting and casting is pretty on point. plus its loosely based on real life shit, which is nice.

    3 eps in so far and really not much to bitch about.

    It started strong, but dipped pretty fast. My biggest gripe was that the 1st season is essentially the movie from 2015 stretched to 10 episodes. Third and last season should be out in a month.

    Out of new crime series i preferred 4 blocks and McMafia.

    Just rewatched the 4 seasons of The Expanse. Fargo season 4 should start today? Warrior season 2 on the 3rd.

      First 2 episodes out from season 4 Fargo. Not bad. Salvatore Esposito from Gomorrah has a part.

        im about to wrap up season 1 S:BOR and i feel like it transcends its genre by a lot. like a lot. i mean in a lot of ways its definitely cotton candy mafia shit but end of the day its given me a lot to work with so far.

        4 blocks & mcmafia, ill hollar at. nice to know fargo is bringing the ruckus as well, i had no idea season 4 started today, im out of the loop.

        i really tried with the expanse and just... i dont know. something about it hit me wrong? maybe i was in the wrong mood for it because _everyone_ loves that fuckin show. i think i made it about 4 eps in, so theres certainly good reason to give it another try.

          Yea i think i started to watch Expanse on few occasions and then gave up at some point. Starts slow but now it's likely my favorite sci-fi show in the last 15 years. Season at a time type of show. Real long story arcs not that much focus on standalone episodes. 5th season is already finished or missing some post production stuff. I think covid pushed the release to early next year.

            ill re-dip a toe, most definitely. im a few eps into season 2 of suburra and tbh im not super excited about finishing it. we are deep into mafia soap opera territory already.

              oh wow yeah i remember now, there was some central character in expanse who was basically like some weird canadian knock off of bladerunner's decker but ooo plot twist he has a dumb fucking hat and i literally could not stand him. i absolutely cant fucking stand that 'hard boiled 50s noir detective' shit. i despised it when bukowski tried to do it, i despise it now, i despise it on space stations or whatever the fuck.

              god i hate that character.

                Ah, he's not a huge part of the show and the noir angle mostly just gets the ball rolling. There's a 9 part novel series the show is based upon and i think the show writers originally adapted it as an MMORPG. Meaning there's actual world building from that side. The main cast and few others are fairly well fleshed out.

                Looking at some reviews, most people think that it got better with later seasons. Something like 1st season 7/10, then 9/10 and 10/10. It does start from the middle and at the same time has to be quite slow paced for anyone to follow/care.

                  cool, its back in my good graces.

                  S:BOR is descending into that whole 'lets have principle characters make absolutely horrific snap decisions that no one would ever make and then somehow expect the consequences to propel the plot arc' trap. its really frustrating to watch.

                        ok so season 2 in the bag.

                        this shit isnt gomorrah but even gomorrah barely pulls off being gomorrah.

                        its fucking fearless tho.

                        like i give season 1 a B+ and i give season 2 a B-. it would be a safe C+ if not for one or two scenes that i legit did not see coming and were just... absolutely on fucking point.

                        i want to see season 3 bring some real heat but im not planning on getting it. its earned my views tho.

                          ok expanse update i just saw a guys head get torn off by a space bullet and everyone had to patch the holes it left before the air ran out and ngl its got my attention.
