their willingness to fake me out with those first 2 eps is quite frankly astounding. they made me _work_ to get to the rest.

Episodes 3-7 we're really really good. 1-2 might have been a necessary sacrifice and 8 could be in that region. I grew up on Marvel comics and i couldn't have cared less about another title in that world. Wandavision brought the TV meta angle with a pace i can live with. 4th wall breaks with an interesting story.

Sort of what early Tarantino brought to the game. Good stories with gimmicks. Making tropes work for you. Tarantino did more with soundtracks obv, but Wandavision hit the visual nostalgia note better.

Really dunno about 8th episode. I think all is forgiven if we get more loops running through decades. For 90s things there's Buffy, Xena, X-files, Twin Peaks etc. For 80s cop serials, Love Boat and lawyer series. Basically keep milking the thing that works, just tie a story in there somewhere.

Yeah re ep 8, I have a lot of fuckin questions.

But I also get that they need a bridge episode to tie everything together and that Wanda's role really did kinda need to be fleshed out to span the diverse universes that are coming together under the Disney brand.

Also apparently she has a part to play in the next Dr Strange film and the season finale next week has some impact on that trajectory? Grain of salt that of course. But the whole chaos magic / red / purple deal is apparently a very well defined thing and it matters so I get that we needed ep 8 to happen.

I'm comfortable trust falling into the finale.

They still need to explain how Agatha came to be in Westview or what's she doing there.

yeah that was the crux of my 'fuckin questions' comment honestly. like didnt vision mind-thingy her? time will tell if shes just another construct of wanda's chaos magic or not.

So the final episode has been out for a minute.

Non spoilery part without regard to expectation.

I was fine with it. I got nothing regarding what i might have wanted for it, but it was fine. Decent set-up for season two. And for spoilery reasons i will not say why.

It's still the best thing Disney+ or whatever the fuck it's called in your country has to offer. Steal it or subscribe for a month and ditch it after that as any sane person would.

yeah im not at a 'pay for disney+' point yet but i am absolutely in awe of the content they are generating.

just watched the season (series?) finale last night. a second season is not necessarily in the cards, according to disney. wanda absolutely has a part in the upcoming dr strange movie, as briefly discussed, but they could very easily pivot to a model where they have overlapping worlds that bleed into other short run series. honestly it kinda feels like they are revisiting the way comic books were generated back in the days.

and part of me hates that but part of me thinks its brilliant; i hate the idea of there not being a wandavision season 2 but i love the idea of them not grafting together a bunch of absolute trash ideas to cash in on the popularity of season 1.

what has me a little concerned as well is we saw a lot of this sort of maneuvering with netflix early on, where they would crank out really legitimate works of adult entertainment masquerading as trash (looking at you Stranger Things) and then as soon as they established a foothold in the content wars, they abandoned all those lofty goals and started churning out absolute fucking garbage and cancelling all the great shit that had problematic budgets.

so i could easily see disney going that route and this time next year we will be like 'fuck me why is she-hulk time traveling into the star wars universe to help the mandalorian steal back the mind stone from magneto and why does every shot of her include rebok shoes someplace...'
