I’ll offer an allegory.

There was a local restaurant that became sort of a feel good habit for me. On Sundays they served Prime Rib. I swear to you a fellow customer and complete stranger once tapped my table, pointed to my plate & nodded in approval. A cardiac surgeon’s dream. I was a regular for what seemed like years.

I’d almost always just order the same thing by default every week. Just made me happy. Then something terrible happened. My meals started showing up just lukewarm or nearly cold. It’s a pet peeve of mine that the plate and meal be fresh & hot. No heat lamps, no tardiness. I asked the waitress several consecutive weeks to accommodate my request. I explained how important it was to me. I was still disappointed.

Upon approaching our car the last time I told my wife to please turn around and wave goodbye. We would never dine there again. She did as asked and laughed. She knows me.

That chapter was closed. I had some great meals and the place made me happy but it’s over. We move on. I can snap something off clean with very little sentimentality. Life is short.

we find you interesting. several have asked what’s up with you these days. no one wants to grind on Todd or the cold meals being dished up in his kitchen.
