I don't understand why anybody would believe that an app designed for planning crimes could possibly be operated by anyone other than the feds or complete incompetents. Like, oh we have a potential market of several hundred Albanians who traffick in heroin and young women, plus some militia guys who think the south is going to rise again any day now, I'll get the devs right on that.Comment

there have been other 'secure device platforms' that were actually legit (until feds took them over of course) but to give you an idea of how strong their rep was, corrupt cops used the an0m phones to tip off criminals about investigations.
so the feds clearly spent significant effort building a proper legend for the devices/company.

this basically outlines how the feds got this ramped up. they busted the last big encrypted device manufacturer and flipped someone building a next gen device in exchange for some sort of immunity deal.

my LE friends are actually pretty antsy about how we just tipped our hat.
my personal theory is this is somehow a direct result of an EO designating ransomware as terrorism. hence the timing of the pipeline btc recovery a couple of days ago.Comment

Well the french GOV hijacked 2 years before a similiar secure chat APP which let to a multitude of arrests last year of a lot of the biggest drug smugglers in europe including one who could hide from all of european authorities for over 20 years, they found a multitude of drugs weapons soundproof containers to torture people etc, you can now guess where those servers where hostedComment
