    The SPCE / Branson space flight event is fucking cringe2000++

    it actually makes me appreciate the professionalism and focus of the SpaceX broadcasts in ways i never anticipated.

    branson is such a fucking blight. hes basically the prototype for every insta influencer and everything he does is a commercial for something else.

    compare that to elon who literally built an entire paradigm for space flight from the ground up (re-usable rockets) just to fuck with a 4 star general who implied it couldnt be done over dinner one night.

    full disclosure: naturally i straddled SPCE on friday.

      its becoming overwhelmingly clear from the timbre and tone of this event that whatever is taking place has exactly zero pragmatic scientific implications and that the logical end game to this entire initiative is kim kardashian getting railed 9 miles above the earth on IG live.

          its not something new to re use rockets, the whole spaceshuttle was reusable even the 2 booster side rockets had parachutes build in so they could be used again, and yes they dont land by themselfs but even then a hammer is hammer even if the handle is made from fiberglass and the head made using microalloy steel forging its still a hammer

              even the reusable and self landing part is not elons idea, the Mcdonnel Douglas DC-X i linked had this idea in 1994, it was only a prototype but origin wise this was not a idea the "technoking" of tesla concocted in his secret lab

              The McDonnell Douglas DC-X was an unmanned prototype VTVL launch vehicle that flew several successfully test flights in the 1990s. In June 1996, the vehicle set an altitude record of 3,140 metres (10,300 ft), before making a vertical landing

              ok but thats on me. the point i was trying to make is we have this shit in the wild today because a 4 star general was dismissive when musk suggested it could be done, and thats dope. it just is.
