I probably shouldn't be saying this right now, because I still want to buy a few more, but I think getting a Solarian is a pretty good gamble/investment. They're the very first NFT on Solana. NFTs are just starting to get some traction on Solana, but there's no real open marketplace for them like Opensea. The floor on them is still pretty low. Right now you can buy a floor one for under 8 SOL. I picked one up last night for 7 SOL.

I would recommend buying one on the marketplace, as opposed to minting a new one. I did some really crude calculations on the EV of minting, and came up with the EV of minting a new one being around ~15 SOL. Since they currently cost a little over 19 SOL to mint, you're losing like $300 by minting a new one (which makes sense, because people will pay for the gamble).

The easiest way to buy one is by getting a Phantom wallet browser extension. I procrastinated getting a Phantom wallet, but it's actually really easy to use and you can see your NFTs right in the wallet.

Btw, in terms of the value of each one. The most important factor appears to be Title. Followed by Level. If you're just buying the floor you don't really need to worry about this.
Titles (from worst to best) - Drone -> Administrator -> Squad Leader -> Guard -> Prospector -> Monitor -> Pilot -> Spy -> Commander. Levels are 1 to 100.

A commander sold for 550 SOL a few days ago.

Floor has moved from 7 SOL to 10 SOL since I made that post...

I got really lucky with some snipes, and now own a Drone, Administrator, Squad Leader, Guard, and Monitor. Total spent: 50 SOL. Could likely flip for 75 sol right now, but I'm planning on holding for a pretty long duration (though I'm gifting my drone to a friend for below floor).

Convinced my 2 friends to go in on this. Were each putting up $500 so we can get a Robot NFT that's about 20 SOL. Judging by what's out there does this seems like the best pic?

But there will be future airdrops that will involve the other ranks. So my thinking is it's prob best to buy Guards, Monitors, Squad Leaders now as they'll likely be more involved in future airdrops (the team has stated holders of all types of solarians will get a drop in due time).

Almost worth it to mint one now that the floors have gone up. I'll have to do the math but I think it's close to neutral EV. Mint #6969 is coming up too. Definitely worth it to get that, but I think a lot of people are going to be going for it.

So I just did the math with the next floors, and it's actually +EV to mint a solarian right now. Costs 19.8sol and returns 21.25sol based on chances of what you get multiplied by floor.

Friends and I are ready to mint one right now....they want to wait since past ones have been pilot or spy.

This is irrelevant. Each mint a new roll. Past mints have no effect on what you'll get. You'll always have a 6.3% chance to get a Pilot. 3.2% chance to get a Spy. 0.5% chance to get a Commander. I'm getting ready to mint too, but I'm waiting for a very special number that's coming up.
