fun fact; the entire first season will go live at the same time and its already signed for 2 more seasons (16 more eps).
less fun fact; Jonathan Rhys Meyers was almost completely wasted on the original Vikings series and i fucking think about that a lot. the phrase 'couldnt see the forest for the trees' describes my thoughts about the 2nd half of that series flawlessly.
they could have done such amazing things but got mired in formulae. and then every so often would stumble into something amazing like Aethelwulf dying of a bee sting. people hated that, i probably hated it at the time, but in retrospect it was one of the last perfect deaths on a show where almost no one died of anything but plot driven violence.
like they actually found, in real life, a grave site in england that may have been for ivar. or at least some other extremely well regarded viking leader. he was killed by the flu, almost certainly. disease / infection / mishap was how most people met their end in those days. and i always hated that for a show so committed to telling us about these absolutely incredible people, it seemed unable to just let them die normally.
