so the phrase 'thai made gun' caught my eye, my first thought was that it was a euphemism for a zip gun essentially. but maybe not.. apparently there is now a domestic thai gun producer; KHT Firearms.

they basically make race gun style assault rifles designed for asian (small) bodies and short range combat.

in case its not obvious, 'gun culture' is a huge and weird thing in thailand. the thai olympic shooting teams are fucking strong. also they have a big footprint in the IPSC circuit.

so its not exactly shocking that college kids are ending up in possession of military grade firearms with which to KoS each other at gas stations but its still somehow incongruous with the 'land of smiles' vibe.

College sports. Name, image and likeness endorsement deals?

Do you mean to infer the Thai like guns more than Americans? This is a surprising & fascinating notion. I must look into this. My inclination is to reject your assertion.

they do not fuck around in Thailand. It all appears so casual and cheap but you sell a little heroin, on the street, for instance, and the police might simply gun you down on the spot or give you a life sentence.

during my fleeting IPSC phase i was surprised to see the biggest names were Filipino (shout out to THE RAZOR) and i dont think its a coincidence that most of the worlds ghost guns come from there now. thailands passion for guns reminds me of that asian gun vibe. its not exactly militaristic and its not exactly a 'freedom' thing and its sure as shit not a hunting or a 'old west' vibe. i think its just... weird asian machismo? its hard to describe.

also lest we forget, look at thailand on a map and see who its surrounded by. that plus the relentless buddhist / muslim flareups make guns very attractive solutions to existential anxiety there.
