  • 100 day trading challenge

starting with $1000, looking to scalp ES for the next 100 trading days (5 months or so). focusing on 1 contract per $1000 in capital.

sick fucking start so far, got into a swing about 20 minutes after market open tonight, caught about 25 points in 3 trades:

25 points in a day is completely unsustainable of course. like an optimistic average is 3 points a day. so basically i just made like 2 weeks of profit in a few trades, whatever. but if i averaged 3 points a day at 1 contract per $1000, in about 2 months id hit the 200 contract per trade limit on this broker and be taking down $30,000 a day.

so yeah 25 points is a great nights work.

if i can keep things on the rails i'll end up scaling up position size, so i wont be able to get fills during the night sessions i expect, as its very low volume. but for now its fucking lovely. very swingable and absolutely ripping to the short side for obvious reasons.

meanwhile, gare just started a 100 day rough trade challenge, and he's also very swingable and absolutely ripping to the short side for obvious reasons

clawed my way back to green through the miracle of overtrading.

i think im done for the day. my options are to either short at the bottom, which lets be honest is likely profitable here because this doesnt look like anything healthy is going to happen soon, or try to catch a reversal thats almost certainly going to get rejected and reverse 10 points before i can exit.

should have enough margin settled to trade 2 contracts once market re-opens, which is going to be interesting.

im prooooobably liquidated. woke up and saw a super confirmed 7 hour up-trend breakout so i decided to get very, very aggressive and commit into it. suddenly price goes into freefall and things get complicated because if i exit my position i dont have the margin to enter back in with the same number of contracts.

tab over to twitter to see wtf is going on and apparently the entire nickel market just imploded and london exchange is literally back cancelling orders and some chinese nickel producer who shorted is on the hook for billions and i tab back and literally the market shed 23 points and i was basically busto on the spot, i had to manually release my positions.

absolutely wild shit. not totally surprising because CPI is about to drop and so is FOMC so the market is just absolutely ready to spazz out, which obviously is great if youre on the right side of it and less so if youre not.

i have a bit of dry powder and if we can claw our way back to 4240, i might be back in the game. not looking great tho. #thatsasailorslife etc. was a fun sweat in any case.

volatility giveth, volatility taketh away. usually the latter tho, which is a bit rude tbh.
