I might be doing some broadcasts/yolo runs in the very near future but obviously I expect nothing to come of it, but yeah some people might choose to come back here. Or not. Inshallah and all that.

i got halfway through ep 5 last night and literally gave up. its arguably the worst episode in the entire series. half the characters are talking like jar jar binks and the rest are either playing tomb raider in a prison or sending emo facetimes while aimlessly posing in front of space-ish zoom backdrops.Comment

I never really cared about the "accents". I don't know if there's a good solution to that. Theirs was to give handful of recognizable ways to speak to different factions. With some assumptions that it was based on the first settlers origin and never evolved so far that we needed subtitles to understand.Originally posted by sonatine View Post

the problem i have with the accents is they are totally inconsistent. naomi speaks like a british school teacher in every scene where her tribe is out of ear shot and then she 'goes native' when shes amongst her people.

anyway. im caught up.
i dont really understand that whole thing with amos and the prepper. amos didnt seem to really have a plan, and he almost got murdered. so its odd that he and that girl from prison, whom i vaguely remember from ages ago but honestly not really were like omg we just totally killed and robbed that person to survive. like no, no you didnt. none of that is accurate.
whatever tho. really wish there were a few more seasons coming regardless. not a lot to watch these days.

People do that with accents though. But it's whatever.
I had to google the girl Amos was with. One of Pierre Mao's daughters. I think she had a single scene in S4. In season 3 she was the one that tried to frame Rocinante crew for a bomb in one of the other ships close to the ring.

ok im caught up and honestly this show is losing a lot of its mojo. the dialog is .. not great. the plot is getting kinda gappy. lots of 'really...? no really, really...?' moments.
im not considering walking away but man there has never been so much to fast forward through.Comment

Yea it hasn't been great. They're running out of time with two episodes left to wrap the season.
I was fine with 3ep slow start for the season and setting everything up for two seasons. Ep4 was great. Loved the pacing. Would have been fine with maybe one more slower episode around Ep7, but instead we're now looking at ep5-8 moving along excruciatingly slow. Focusing on things that should be sidenote in a space opera. I like Drummer, i don't care about his family. Naomi doesn't need 100 minutes of airtime doing barely anything. And somehow going as slow as they go, there are still so many holes in everything.
Having watched the aftershow bits of every episode i know what they were going for and most ? get answered. It's just that in the show none of that reads well and there's so much crap that's unnecessary.
My best guess is that this season just doesn't work without the book. And they're kinda doing the same thing they did in Season 1. It's my favorite season to rewatch, but it was the worst season out of 4 when i saw it the first time. Like it needed season 2 and 3 to work.Comment

also we're talking about a character who has waited his entire life to find himself in this position; hes literally about to be the king of baltimore. hes the last man standing and set to quarterback the recovery / reconstruction efforts and make an inconceivable amount of money from it. but one story about some loopy bitch who killed her kids and hes like yeah fuck all that, i should get out while the gettins good.

also him trotting out the phrase 'white knighting' which literally didnt exist until about 4 years ago.
