so we're 8 episodes in and has one cool thing actually happened this season besides amos suplexing a bane monster down an elevator shaft?

What i've gathered is that the biggest change in season 5 was that they got rid of Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. They initially ran the writers room and were responsible for translating the books to TV. Slowly they were replaced by the original book writers and we lost their edit/translation.
With that came the pacing problems, lack payoff and readability. This transition started around season 4. A season that was mostly in one place vs this season where everything is scattered. One of these things is a lot harder. I'm afraid that their success in season 4 led them to believe they could handle season 5 on their own.
With the books this was also the first time Amos got his own viewpoint chapters. That might have carried the book and be the reason why a lot of people like the 5th book. The TV show cashed that check a long time ago. Amos's perspective has been around ever since season 1 or 2.
But yea they're running out of time. Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham either need to get a lot better at running the room or they need to get help for season 6.

i hate how much sense those writers room changes make, contextually.
i also hate how the entire scope of the show has folded in on itself. like we just opened up gates to totally unexplored solar systems and 85% of this season could have been solved by a space therapist.

Thoughts on finale? I actually thought they kind of nailed it and actually found a way to take care of Alex in a manner that semi-surprised me. Low-key excited for season 6 now after being Debbie downer the majority of this season

i thought it was a good finale and i like where we are heading.
alex dying was good on many levels. naomi living was bad on many levels.
like how is it that somehow bobbie is so much more sympathetic and multi dimensional than naomi...
IRREGARDLESS.
i fully agree this should have been half a season.
oh also you could put a gun to my head right now and i still wouldnt be able to tell you what exactly peaches did before this season. not a single scene. i think maybe she and her dad shared some moment in his living room at a dinner party or something. beyond that.... uh...

'The Expanse' Producers Tease Season 6 Plans and a "Big" Series Finale
some interesting info in there. nothing spoilerish but its curious to see them saying, outright, that they are going to bring elements of ep 1 season 1 to closure in the finale. they have my attention.

Also, I thought this season sucked, especially compared to season 4, which was great. Nothing much really happened until the last episode, and way too much Naomi.

Yea everything you said. I think i googled her around EP4 and then remembered she did stuff in S3 with a single appearance in S4.
Cautiously optimistic about S6. S5s problems might come from stuff speculated before in this thread. I believe the fifth book is a favorite for many. I think in the book series it's the first time Amos gets his own perspective chapters and Churn was released somewhere around the same time. The TV show cashed their Amos credits starting from S1.
