so we're 8 episodes in and has one cool thing actually happened this season besides amos suplexing a bane monster down an elevator shaft?

we are flirting with a game of thrones caliber implosion here and i really need them to uncork something memorable in the next 90 minutes of air time.

What i've gathered is that the biggest change in season 5 was that they got rid of Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby. They initially ran the writers room and were responsible for translating the books to TV. Slowly they were replaced by the original book writers and we lost their edit/translation.

With that came the pacing problems, lack payoff and readability. This transition started around season 4. A season that was mostly in one place vs this season where everything is scattered. One of these things is a lot harder. I'm afraid that their success in season 4 led them to believe they could handle season 5 on their own.

With the books this was also the first time Amos got his own viewpoint chapters. That might have carried the book and be the reason why a lot of people like the 5th book. The TV show cashed that check a long time ago. Amos's perspective has been around ever since season 1 or 2.

But yea they're running out of time. Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham either need to get a lot better at running the room or they need to get help for season 6.

i hate how much sense those writers room changes make, contextually.

i also hate how the entire scope of the show has folded in on itself. like we just opened up gates to totally unexplored solar systems and 85% of this season could have been solved by a space therapist.

i feel like ive invested about 4 hours into this season so i could watch amos stare at a sunrise.

the rest is literally shake and shit i fast forwarded through because hey you wont believe this but i dont give a shit about whats her face mourning her husband.

also i kinda like bobby and if they write her off so they can deal with snapping whats his face off clean via the ship/bomb gimmick im going to be irked a bit.

                but honestly not that much.

Thoughts on finale? I actually thought they kind of nailed it and actually found a way to take care of Alex in a manner that semi-surprised me. Low-key excited for season 6 now after being Debbie downer the majority of this season

I didn't hate it. I think they could have made this a 4 episode season though. Some of this season might make more sense after season 6 or it might work better binged. I think i can remember maybe 5 scenes from ep5-9 batch.

But yea they bamboozled me with the end enough to be excited for season 6.

i thought it was a good finale and i like where we are heading.

alex dying was good on many levels. naomi living was bad on many levels.

like how is it that somehow bobbie is so much more sympathetic and multi dimensional than naomi...

                    IRREGARDLESS.

i fully agree this should have been half a season.

oh also you could put a gun to my head right now and i still wouldnt be able to tell you what exactly peaches did before this season. not a single scene. i think maybe she and her dad shared some moment in his living room at a dinner party or something. beyond that.... uh...

some interesting info in there. nothing spoilerish but its curious to see them saying, outright, that they are going to bring elements of ep 1 season 1 to closure in the finale. they have my attention.

Wasn't there a major story arc last season where she tried to get revenge for her family by sabotaging the mission that was exploring the ring, and then at the end she redeemed herself and saved everyone?

Also, I thought this season sucked, especially compared to season 4, which was great. Nothing much really happened until the last episode, and way too much Naomi.

Yea everything you said. I think i googled her around EP4 and then remembered she did stuff in S3 with a single appearance in S4.

Cautiously optimistic about S6. S5s problems might come from stuff speculated before in this thread. I believe the fifth book is a favorite for many. I think in the book series it's the first time Amos gets his own perspective chapters and Churn was released somewhere around the same time. The TV show cashed their Amos credits starting from S1.

yeah i went to the wiki to figure out who the fuck she actually was. there was so little character development for her until s4 that she got totally swept away, memory wise.

Shohreh Aghdashloo (Chrisjen) just popped up in the new Destiny 2 game expansion.

                            Good for her.

Went looking for Destiny 2 on battlenet and found out i should have moved my account to Steam in December. Something about Bungie splitting from Activision. I doubt i was ever gonna play it either way.
