i just read a fairly hilarious and fundamentally coge take;

elon has basically started openly antagonizing the overwhelming majority of tesla's clients.

like has anyone ever in their lives seen a maga enthusiast driving around in their shiny new tesla? even if trump told them to buy one, how many could afford one?





its really quite american that the popular narrative is 'musk must be a genius to have this much money'.

it would appear that either hes been an extremely lucky smoothbrain and/or his recurrent bouts of covid have quite literally given him brain damage.

Brother in South Florida there are many Tesla owners who support Trump. In the area I live Donald Trump is very popular, and every parking lot seems to have at least one Tesla

brother anybody who becomes the richest man on earth is very lucky of course, but I have noticed you tend to discredit people who do not agree with your politics and “sell them short”. Just an observation brother, I’m not an offended Elon Musk fan, I’m neutral on him but I do think it’s funny he bought Twitter.

he didnt buy twitter, and if he walks away from the deal twitter has him on the hook for a cool billion dollars.

hes also not very good at anything, respectfully, except grifting and hiring talented engineers to pursue his visions. saying i discredit him because he 'doesnt agree with my politics' feels disingenuous in light of that.

also i cant find recent stats but as of 2019, florida accounted for 20% of the EV sales that california did. can you find more recent data than that that gives florida a more relevant market share? that would be an interesting trend honestly.

regardless, here are some facts that seem fairly indisputable;

- tesla has brought no innovation to market since the model y dropped.

- self driving is great but a great many competitors have solid implementations as well.

- tesla's build quality is absolutely legendary in its shittyness. you are less likely to be delivered a car that does not need significant repairs than you are one that does, and you will likely have to pay for them. this was not the case a few years back.

- tesla has fumbled the side-quests (solar) that predicated a lot of its valuation, and this happened a year or two before covid existed.

- brother if you think musk is the richest man on earth im not sure theres much point in us comparing notes. even musk admits openly that there are much richer people than him out there. whats more his wealth is directly tied to his tesla shares, which are down almost 30%.

im not even going to go on and i could. the fact that elon grew up in apartheid south africa and is now lashing out at the exact demographic in america that put an end to apartheid is not relevant to my calling tesla's top some time back. but youre right, thats not a political position i respect.

trying to draw a line between those two variables feels lazy, i dont know what else to tell you.
