something kinda weird is going on with season 6.

so for one thing despite being this total cultural juggernaut, no ones green lit season 6.

also the press are soft-balling a lot of 'will there be a season 6?' stories like somehow its all going to end in the next 7 eps, and someone is always ready with a sound bite about how taylor cant make it to the party because hes busy writing season 6.

and i think the message here might be that season 6 will be the last one.

which would make sense because honestly they cant... stop.. writing themselves into corners. like everyones neck has been in the noose for quite some time. there is a lot of fat in a lot of fires.

like 'the bad guys' know that jamie wants his sister murdered and that the whole family has been murdering people and dumping bodies off a very specific cliff.

im assuming beth's adopted son gets bit by a rattlesnake or some silly shit and dies and that sends beth into a murderous rage against jamie and the cops arrive just as kevin costner is about to murder beth because he finally realizes that shes the fucking real problem and rip wheeler shoots kevin costner in front of the cops and the cops body him on the spot and beth then shoots herself because taylor got high and watched reservoir dogs for the first time and now its everyones problem.

        honestly i feel vindicated.

        https://www.avclub.com/kevin-costner...one-1850080152

kevin costner has told the show runners that he refuses to do more than a week's filming for the second half of the season, and paramount / et all have decided to basically wrap the show asap and spin up a new version with (seriously) matthew mcconaughey.

like apparently he started out committing to 65 days, then said lol no seriously make that 50, and now hes so fed up that he refuses to be on set for more than 7. honestly imagine what a fucking shitshow this must be for him to play that card.

so grain of salt this but its actually sounding like paramount might just walk away from yellowstone without filming the 2nd half of the season. at face value this seems categorically impossible but im hearing that they are simply saying no to costner's demands to spend no more than a week on set to film 6 one-hour episodes to wrap the season (series?).

which is confusing because how tf does costner not have a contract that enforces his physical presence for filming?

like we are getting into a weird netherworld where the 2nd half of the show plays out in a 90 second news blurb on mcconaughey living room tv during the opening minutes of his new series.

"news out of montana today, where the owner of the largest ranch in the US and governor murdered his daughter and his estranged son before killing himself in a shocking turn of events etc etc".

literally plausible and hilarious that this might be how the most popular scripted tv series in america ends.

          also?

DYING to hear kevin costner's side in all this.

            not a ton of new info there but it puts a bit of a spotlight on a few issues that deserve attention;

            - costner wants like 1.5m an episode (lol. lmao.)

            - apparently he has just wandered off in disgust during filming on quite a few occasions

            - its pretty much general opinion at this point that season 5 so far has been a fucking joke, with basically nothing of note happening and none of its original charms anywhere to be found

            - taylor is churning out absolute shlock scripts, and also hes starting to be constantly late with them, which is an interesting tidbit

            - paramount has pretty much all their eggs in the taylor basket at this point with it's 'taylor sheridan universe' and one of the galaxy brain moves they made was to reinvest all those sweet, sweet yellowstone ad rev profits into hiring A-list actors for all the other satellite taylor projects. so we could see an FTX style implosion where yellowstone vanishes and the revenue loss contagion wipes out all these other incredibly expensive vanity projects, leaving paramount with exactly fuckall on its roster.

            - my joke about costner's character killing both his fuckup kids and then suiciding himself for good measure is becoming far less far fetched, but more than likely hes just going to kill beth _then_ kill himself and give jamie some big fucking speech about how he earned his respect by being a ruthless cunt for the benefit of the ranch or something after costner finds his gf murdered and realizes beth is simply too broken and dangerous to exist. wes bentley is, as they say in the article, almost kind of a draw, and could likely carry the show in some capacity, maybe with matthew mcconaughey showing up as some cousin ready to run beth's meat scheme as the oscar to wes' felix or some nonsense.

honestly im absolutely enthralled because paramount cant just walk away from this trash fire, they have a parasitic relationship with it at this point, so i know that whatever comes next is going to be half witted and insane and absolutely 100% more fun to watch than whatever this shit is right now.

so this show's final eps were literally supposed to air in a month or two and they havent even started production, and this weekend they had some massive meet and greet QA thing scheduled with all the big names at some spot in hollywood and only a handful of them showed up.

i am _dying_ to read the script that caused costner to walk away.

costner's wife told him in october to quit yellowstone or she would divorce him and apparently she just filed.

not only did he not quit yellowstone but apparently is going to be filming for at least 220 days on some other project.

so yeah poof goes the marriage and hes on the hook for about 250m to her.

i was going to comment on how tricky it would be to film 220 days for his own western while doing yellowstone but lets be real, yellowstone is a soap opera and he can probably film an entire season in about 2 weeks if no one was fucking up too badly.

2nd half of season five will end yellowstone.

                    will start airing in november.

spinoff is green it, matthew m is in negotiations but no one has signed anything.

btw sheridan charges $50k per week to let paramount film on his ranch and also charges them $25 per head of cattle per day. its completely unprecedented.

Couldn't find September TV thread after 30s of intensive search and then I just clicked something that kinda relates to that.

Caught up with Yellowstone. Don't mind the main series even though it's declining and/or getting more soapy. They really love their end of season cliffhangers and that would piss me off if watched it live.

Anyways 1923 was ass. 188x whatever was worse.

For the September things live action One Piece was ok. 7.5/10 ok as a standalone thing. Never watched anime/manga so no idea about the adapting side of things. From random reviews most ppl are saying it's true to the spirit of the original. And the usual anti-woke side of the internet are also liking the show regardless of a few race swaps and/or female to male trans actor.

There's few things that are noticeable that mostly stem from the first season being cut from 10 to 8 episodes. Also i'm assuming because of adapting/future reasons there's too many characters to follow. It could have been more compact in scope and more thorough if it was just a standalone project. I also prefer the route of introducing depth to characters when needed or few episodes earlier rather than a full season.

As is the show is too fast and too slow. I didn't care about most backstories and it's essential to just accept that the internal logic/rules of the world are mildly insane.

New season of Top Boy was released. I had it running in the background. Kinda meh. There's another season of Wheel of Time running. After two episodes i'd say it's not as bad as the first. Finished second season of the Lakers/Magic show. Kinda meh. Watched both seasons of Mayor of Kingstown. Pretty ok.

Haven't been compelled to watch Ahsoka. Didn't bother finishing Idol. It's commendable to find such a perfect balance of repulsive and boring.

Likely looking into watching the s2 of Foundation and Bear, if nothing new comes around.

Oh and also had the new season/spinoff of Justified running in the background. Something like 7/10. Didn't care about the villain or any of the side characters. Last 5 mins were the most promising. Still better than 90% other shit that came out this year.

yellowstone actor got kicked off a plane for refusing to sit next to someone wearing a mask.

honestly this show is not aging well.
