According to the head of the Center for Defense Strategies Zagorodniuk, the number of Russian troops in the invasion on February 24 numbered 145 thousand ground troops: 110 thousand soldiers of the land forces and 35 thousand police forces (riot police, SOBR, Rosguard).

like they just made absolute empire caliber money off this.

I feel like this is hyperbolic. 30 helicopters is a lot of helicopters, but according to wikipedia, russian air force had 1460 and the navy had 168 in service. If we decide arbitrarily to limit our denominator to the number of attack helicopters, it's 552 air force and 5 navy. If we just go with helicopters from the current century, that's 288 air force and 3 navy, so holy shit, Ukraine did literally decimate Russia's inventory of late-model helicopters, nevermind.
