welp, wrapped season 4.
no major complaints.
big fan of the miller floor creature and id like to see a spinoff for him.
not really super enthusiastic about the season 5 isis / antifa flavored army vibe, kinda questionable timing all things considered, but whatever im here for it.
i think they absolutely have to recast cas at this point regardless of the output of their third party investigation or its going to be another trailer park boys situation where cast members are like 'oh no i dont work with people accused of sexual assault' and the show basically implodes. like they can keep cas and recast 80% of the female leads or they can dump him and either recast with a better actor or do a poochie exit thing. and honestly who would really complain about the latter given how little his character actually contributes to the plot.
non zero chance the third party audit discovers the accusations arent nearly as cut and dried as presented and hes guilty of nothing but being super horny and hooking up with super damaged people but im not counting on it. i mean, one complaint seemed to be from a 17 year old who banged him at an assassins creed convention in 2013 if i read it right and the details she provided seemed like the difference between it being a sleazy hookup and a predator harvesting her soul was her sexual abuse history. so im not sure how you grade that.
like the second i read 'i thought i was making connections in the industry' after she capered off to his hotel room after drinks, i knew things are about to get complicated.

I'm about 99% that Cas is gone. He said she said is whatever, but when it gets to 10 times she said spanning 9 years, he said starts losing credibility.
Only major if was just if, they will go the recast , rewrite or cancelled route.
I think the show has good enough numbers and essentially season 5 and 6 are already paid. The rest of the cast also handled this very well, so it's less likely the show goes down with Cas.

it also introduced a couple of fresh faces. like we _will_ be seeing the doc more, and we _will_ be seeing the teenage engineer girl more, is my casual read. also bobbie's blond foil is still super relevant because of her connections to various mars plot threads.
its possible (hopeful even) that we end up seeing a lot of very le carre style maneuverings with christian/bobbie/blondie, with the right writers it could go well.

something ive been geeking out on a bit this morning.
the whole 'mars is getting corrupt and bitter because no one gives a shit about terraforming and no ones thinking in multigenerational terms anymore' is actually legitimately brilliant.

There's all sorts of smaller lines running along the current main story arcs that may see a payoff at some point or at least evoke ideas. Makes this good show to rewatch. Season 1 is my favorite currently for rewatching, but only after seeing all the seasons.
I haven't yet read the books, but i'm guessing they should strengthen the show. I started reading The Churn last night. The origin story for Amos that's focused on Baltimore.
Oh and as a non native English speaker i rarely register accents being off.

40 pages in Churn is firmly in the cyberpunk realm. Dystopia out of some war and/or climate change type of a deal. Average person seems to have less everything in that world than in ours. Sort of explaining the mix of low and high tech in the world.

Churn was god. It's only 60 pages or so.
Started reading the first book Leviathan Wakes. So far decent. I might read 4 or 8 of the books before season 5.
In random tv updates i've had Shield running on the side. We might get next new cop show in 2030.
